AK NUTS??

i found a very good article about the monster hand in poker who everybody seems to play different here are some thoughts from tod arnold

I discussed ace-rag in detail in a previous column. This time I’ll talk about the most overplayed hand in poker, A-K. Wow! I’ve been waiting for a big hand like this for an hour! Finally, I have a monster. Or do I? Yes, maybe you do, but it’s all in how you play the hand and when. Many players just can’t wait to get all their chips in with it. Don’t fall in love with it.

What makes big slick such a good starting hand? Hell, it’s just a drawing hand and mathematically, even a pair of deuces is the favorite preflop. First, get that best-hand-preflop thought process out of your head. Who cares? You are holding two cards out of a total of seven. How far ahead can you really be? The best is 80-20 with a pair over a pair (and you’re not in that situation). Learn to play the situation and the board and stop worrying if you have the best hand. OK, now back to the question: Why is it so good? It is good because of perception and equity.

Many players feel it is so good because, unless your opponent has A-A or K-K , you are roughly, at worst, 50 percent to win. But, that also means that you are 50 percent to lose in that situation. So, is that really very good? I don’t think so — at least not in many situations. As I always say, follow your reads. What size stack do you have in comparison to your opponent and in relation to the blind level? When should you take that race? Can you make your opponent fold? I see so many players overplay A-K and lose the tournament thinking they did nothing wrong. Here’s a specific example of what not to do: It’s early on in a tournament, the blinds are low, and all players are about even in chips. Early position calls, next guy makes a small raise, late position raises 30-40 percent of his stack, and you have A-K in the small blind and push all in. I think this is a horrible play at this point in a tournament for many reasons. First, there is certainly at least one pair out there with that action so at best you are a 50 percent favorite to win. Second, it’s so early in the tournament, why risk elimination now on a coin flip at best? Third, you just made the biggest mistake you can make.

You waited until someone was pot-committed before you tried to push him out. He may have enough chips left to fold and play on but he is likely mentally committed to that pot and is not going to fold. So, now you are in a race against the big raiser who has J-J or Q-Q and if you lose, you are out. (This happens often late in tournaments as well.) Do not wait until someone is committed to the pot before you push for your tournament life.

So, when should you aggress? It’s all about perception and equity, as I said earlier. For example, a player raises a standard three times the big blind. Based on your read of that player, you are pretty sure he has a good hand like A-K, A-Q, or a medium pair. Reraising that player with A-K makes sense as he will have a hard time calling or racing for his entire stack even if he perceives that you hold only A-K. Now the decision is on him to race in a 50 percent situation. He also has to worry that he is a 4-to-1 dog if he is holding a middle pair. You have forced him into the situation of having to make the call and win the race. That’s not an enviable position. So, the point is to always use your equity with A-K to make others decide to race. Always try to be the aggressor with A-K and not the caller. And reraising a pot-committed player is essentially only calling. There are, of course, some situations in which calling with A-K does make sense. Early in a tournament when just picking up the blinds has no relative value and to disguise your hand strength may be a time you choose to call only. Late in a tournament against a smaller stack that you feel is getting desperate and will push with any ace, and so on. The bottom line is choose whom you play A-K against very carefully. Realize that it is likely going to be a race and avoid racing for your tournament life if at all possible. Your best “out” is to get them to fold.

To summarize:

• Aggress with A-K preflop but don’t call all-in bets with it.

• Aggress heavily enough to give your opponent the opportunity to fold but not so much that you commit yourself and only dominant hands like aces and kings can call you.

• Don’t aggress after someone is pot-committed if losing that amount is devastating to your stack.

• Don’t race with it for your tournament life, especially early on.

• Most of the value of A-K is the ability to make others fold so use it when they are able to fold, not when they can’t fold.

• Choose your opponent carefully according to your read and the situation.

Good luck, be mindful, and stop overplaying that hand!

27/10

i was reading a interesting article i want to share with all of you

TheWacoKidd” stunned seasoned pros when he won two preliminary events this spring at the WPT Championship at Bellagio, and then made it deep in the $25,000 championship event. A month later he won an early event at the Mirage Poker Showdown, then made the final table of WPT Mandalay Bay, finally finishing second for $459,000.

Fresh off that final, he jumped right into the World Series, but things slowed down – until the Main Event, that is. He finished a superb 88th out of 6,358 for an $82,476 payday.

In just seven months, the Internet star – who now lives in a Vegas suburb – has eight live cashes for more than $1 million! A true online junkie, when once asked what he would like to change most about the poker world, he responded: “Bring PartyPoker back!” Jared answers readers’ questions in this month’s edition of Pro’s Corner.

I am constantly getting bluffed when I play online. I am totally lost. How do I figure out when I am being bluffed?

Sick of It, Bangor, Maine

I would say that you have to learn your opponent’s betting patterns and you just have to run back through the hand and gain as much info as you can. You have to base it on how he has previously played hands. The most important thing is you have to know what the other player thinks about you. If he thinks you are going to make tight laydowns, he is more likely to bluff you, so you have to think about what your image is and go off of that. If you are perceived as a weak-tight player who people can run over, he is more likely bluffing. I would say to make sure you put all the information on the hand together, and then think about the way that guy has played previously. Figure out what that guy thinks about you and then use your instincts. You just have to practice and put it in there and then eventually you just have to be right more than you are wrong.

In no-limit, how strong a hand is top pair, top kicker. When should I be willing to go all in with it?

Pair Problem, Brookfield, Wisconsin

It all depends on the blind level in the tournament. You never want to go broke with one pair if you have more than 30 times the blind. It also depends on the preflop action and the opponent. Versus some opponents I am willing to get it in all day with that, but some people if they show resistance I know one pair is no good. It just all depends on whom you are playing against. If you have more than 30 times the blind, you should never go broke with top pair.

In a no-limit cash game, an early position player raises the blinds and a loose player reraises. I am on the button with pocket queens. What do I do?

Rock, Oklahoma City

I would say most of the time you are supposed to raise there. You are on the button, you have position, and you have the third best hand in poker. The first person’s raising range could be pretty wide and if it’s a loose player reraising him you want to take control of the pot and define your hand and use your position on the button. I would think that is almost always a reraise.

In the middle stage of a multi-table event, I have an average stack. There has been a raise and two limpers and I am in late position with A-K. What is my play?

Benny, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

It sounds like the easiest all-in in the world to me. As long as you have 20 to 30 times the blind and with a limp, a limp and a raise, that sounds like all-in all day.

How should I play pocket deuces in a sit-n-go?

Loose Moose, Biloxi, Mississippi

In the first few levels, limp in only to try to flop a set. Also, you can call a couple raises early on when its like 20-20 or 15/30 because you know a lot of the times when someone raises early in a sit-n-go they have a big hand and you have a lot of implied odds with deuces if you flop a set – you could make someone go broke with an overpair. I would say early on try to see the flop and later on when the blinds are like 50-100 and you have 1,300 chips, you should just fold it, but if you are in late position and you have a dozen big blinds or less it is an all-in hand. If you are in early position, it is a fold.

Should I play hands like A-K and A-Q the same when they are suited as when they are unsuited? I’m

Soooooted, Mesquite, Nevada

Well, suited I believe adds 2.7 percent equity to your hand, so it’s not like it’s nothing, but it is a pretty small edge. Sometimes what I try to do is pretend like suits don’t matter. Occasionally, if the pot odds aren’t there, the suiting is a little more tempting. I would say, yes that’s a pretty good rule to live by. I would play them the same whether they are suited or unsuited.

Which has tougher players, a World Poker Tour event or a World Series of Poker event?

Cereal Killer, Battle Creek, Michigan

World Poker Tour by far, not even close. The World Series of Poker attracts so many fish and so many amateurs it is unbelievable. Some of the worst players that I have ever played with were at the World Series. There were better players on $10 tournaments on PokerStars than there were at a $1,500 event at the World Series. It’s amazing how bad the players are. In the WPT, there are a lot more pros; there are not as many amateurs. The World Series is only once a year and everybody comes to it, so it’s going to attract a lot more random players, a lot more amateurs, a lot more Average Joes, 9-to-5 type players. The WPT has a lot of professionals. The Mandalay Bay that I took second in, it had about 230 people in it and about 200 of them were full-time pros. At the World Series, maybe 10 percent are full-time pros. It’s not even close; it’s not even a debatable question.

I am confused when I get to be big stack in a sit-n-go or final table. What is the best way to play a big stack?

Clueless in Sheboygan

A lot of people like to go crazy when they have a big stack, but that’s not how I do it. I would say be aggressive in late position, don’t flat-call anyone’s raises, reraise people instead of just calling people and try to hit flops. So, just raise or fold and be really active in late position. Make sure you know which hands to call off with when the short stacks go all in on you. The thing about playing a big stack is you really have to pay attention to stack sizes behind you and make sure you aren’t priced in if they go all in. You don’t want to raise up and the guy behind you moves all in and you are priced in to call. You have to pay attention to stack sizes. If the table is letting you put pressure on, keep pounding it, and if they are playing back at you, you have to slow down. Just make sure to stay active in late position and just don’t start calling raises if you have chips. Reraise or fold and constantly put pressure on the blinds.

I am a short stack and have to go all in within a few hands. What are the best hands to go all in with (assuming I’m not going to get a premium hand): ace-rag, king-rag or a hand like 9-7?

Raggedy Ace, Bell Gardens, California

This is a good question. If you have, let’s say, around seven to 12 times the blind, which I call a short stack, you are in push all-in mode. A hand like 10-9 or 9-7 suited plays much better than ace-rag or king-rag because of the ranges of hands that are calling you. Let’s say it folds around to you in position and you have 3,500 chips and the blinds are 200-400. You have about nine times the blind. I would not shove A-3, but I would shove 10-9. Most of the time if you are getting called there, you are getting called by A-J, A-Q, A-K and you are going to be dominated instead of having live cards. I would much rather shove with suited-connected middle cards than ace-rag or king-rag on a short stack.

26/10 new outfit

as you have noticed i have redesigned my page if you like it or dont jsut take a fast vote on the right poll to see if make future changes on it i will post an article from a pro which i found very usefull

One of the most profitable situations in poker is one in which you've flopped a monster and someone else is betting into you. It's an incredible feeling but, alas, one of the rarest occurrences in the game.

In reality, making money when you've flopped a great hand is one of the hardest things to accomplish in any game. It takes a combination of factors to get your opponents to bet into you - or even call your bet. But just because it's difficult doesn't mean it can't be done. Keep the following tips in mind the next time you flop the nuts, and you may just be able to increase your stack substantially.

*

Pay attention to the board's texture. Sometimes you'll flop a monster and can't get paid no matter what you do. Most often, this will happen on a really scary board like A-A-K rainbow. There are just very few hands that your opponent could be holding where he'd even consider putting chips into the pot.

Now, change things up just a little and say you've flopped a boat on a board of Ah-Kh-Ad. With a potential flush draw out there, you now have two things working in your favor; your opponent may think you're on the flush draw or he may be on the draw himself. Either way, you're much more likely to get action if you bet this board than you would on the rainbow flop.

The fact is you're probably not going to get your opponent to put anything into the pot unless he's connected with the board in some way. Sometimes this means checking your monster down to the river in hopes that he catches something that makes him think his hand is good.
*

Size your bet to your opponent. This is a concept that takes a little work to master but is based on a simple principle - know your opponent. The strategy you employ against a tight opponent is probably going to be different than the one you employ against an aggressive one, and knowing who you're facing across the table will make your decision easier when you're trying to figure out how to extract that extra bet.

For example, if I've flopped a huge hand against a very tight player, I may try to overbet the pot in an effort to make it look like I'm stealing with a weak hand. Hopefully, he'll read my play the way I want him to and either call or re-raise me to push me off the hand. Conversely, I may make a very weak bet against an aggressive player, hoping that he'll come over the top and try to steal the hand. In either case, I'm trying to play into my opponent's image of me and get him to commit chips that he may not put into the pot otherwise.
*

Image is everything. Along those same lines, another key to getting action is to make your opponents think you're giving action, even when you're not. Talk to the other players at your table. Make them your friends and draw them into conversation.

By developing an engaging table personality, your opponents will have the impression that you're playing more pots than you actually are, which can help you convince them to pay you off when you've made a huge hand. If people think you're loose when you're actually playing tight, they're much more likely to chase their draws or call with weak pairs than they would be if you're a complete rock.

Of course, there's no sure-fire way to guarantee that you'll get paid when you flop a huge hand. Like most things in life, it's about being in the right place at the right time. But if you size up the table successfully and the variables line up in your favor, your monster may not scare away the action after all.

HEAD HUNTER AT CRYPTO

sorry guys for not updating for a couple days but a friend of mine showed me a new crypto site its called betsafe so i gota good deal there with rakeback and bonus and i decided to open an account there

i have to say this site is sosoft the players SUCKKKKKKKKKKKK very soft a lot of british
players which have no clue how to play no limit they see ace rag and are all in hehe
one guy called me on final table a reshove for 120k with k8o that should be telling all about the players there the other thing you can play in english pounds which cash games are a dream of every true player and paid in pounds its a good exchange rate

so i deposited there and started a few head hunter tournaments they are great small fields max 500 man usually 250 or so you get 75% of each head money from a player and the other 25% goes on your head so if you catch a guy who has busted already many player you get a big reward from his head i made form one guy over 60us only for busting him thats cool

tomorrow il play the biggest buy in they have headhunter mtt its a 109 buy in and you get 50us on each head minimum so thats not to bad i hope to bust a few tomorrow

so far i have made 5 final tables in 3 days there and a couple cashes so i am very pleased with that site and i will hang around a bit to see how much i can profit from they bad play there the only bad thing they dont accept americansif you read this blog and are not from the us contact me and il get you a good deal if you want to play there since a good friend of mine is an affiliate there im sure he can get you the same deal

apart of that i am still playing a couple guarantees at stars with not much of a success lately there so il take it a bit softer and play a little at smaller sites with european players god i love them ,so i will post in the next couple days the resultsof my games

TUFF COUPLE DAYS OCT 2

the last couple days have just been very odd i played a bunch of mtts i mean really bunch countless and i run very bad lose 70/30s 80/20 pf its just insane i want even bother to ost hands it maybe puts you on tilt hehe like he puts me on tilt when i flop a boat and get my money in only to get suckt out on a runner runner to a better boat so it is just very unlucky at the moment nothing holds up

i placed in a few mtts over the last few days the ones i remember was the 25k 27.50 wich i came in 22nd after losing a8s to q4 sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk lol

and also i placed in the 20k at 31st place after running kks to aa oh well maybe i could have played that hand a bit different but its hard to get away from specially late in tournaments when the blinds are very high and a lot a stealing and re stealing is going on

then todaynoon i played the 22us 20k only to bubble it in 156th after openshoving 77s utg and get called by aqo in late position and as my luck is totally not on my isde he flops top 2 so gg me the bubble boy

yesterday played 22 rebuy and was just ugh 5 buy ins and kk,ak,at,99,tt,all lose so i decided to quit that beacuse it becomes -ev after 5 rebuys i move on the next

today was in 35k rebuy and 45k and my internet went away and i was pretty damn screwed i called god to see wazup my blinds where going down but i guess he run out of battery beacuse he didn answer me and internet came back almost 2 houers later so gg me there too blinded down with no chance to recover

positive thing is POKERSTARS CARIBEAN ADVENTURE SATTELITES ARE HERE looking forward to win a couple seats for this event in fact i am starting a sattelite in 20min now its 30 min past midnight here but i am really exited about bahamas nice location, nice weather, beaches, and a big prize pool of money i think last years winner tooke home over 1.5 million dollars thats not to shady so those are my goals for the next couple months get as many pca seats as i can get
